Protect Your Boat from Sun and Weather
Custom boat covers built for Montana lakes and seasonal storage in Fairfield and throughout North Central Montana
Our boat covers are built with integrity and longevity in mind. Each cover is custom fit to your specific boat. All wear points are reinforced. Each cover has an 18" window reinforcement. We use top of the line Top Gun material with your choice of color. All covers are sewn using a locking stitch.
We offer both snap on covers and strap on covers. Once we get near you on the list, we will call and set up a drop off date. At that time we will go over all of the details of your cover and choose material colors. Your boat will be with us for 2-3 weeks. We will call you for the final inspection and pickup. Our shop is located 1 mile west of Fairfield, Mt. All covers are custom fit and priced at $100/linear foot. So, for example, for an 18ft boat, the cover will cost $1800.
When you store your boat between trips or leave it on the trailer through winter, sun and moisture work their way into upholstery, electronics, and finishes. Dust settles into seams, UV rays crack vinyl and fade paint, and covers that do not fit properly let water pool and debris collect in the cockpit. Mountain View Canvas builds custom boat covers designed to protect vessels from sun, moisture, and debris during storage and transport around Montana lakes and seasonal conditions.
If your boat is sitting uncovered or your current tarp is not doing the job, reach out to Mountain View Canvas in the Greater Montana area to discuss measurements and custom options for your vessel.

Covers That Fit Right and Stay Secure
Mountain View Canvas builds custom boat covers by measuring your boat directly at our shop. Bring your boat to our facility and our team will take the necessary measurements of the hull, windshield, and any protruding equipment to ensure a snug, accurate fit. We do not travel for on-site measurements. Materials are selected based on whether the boat will be stored indoors, outdoors, or transported regularly. Tie-down systems are positioned to keep the cover tight, and reinforced edges prevent tearing from wind or abrasion against the trailer.
Electronics and finishes are protected from UV exposure, and you will not be cleaning out leaves or dirt. The cover sheds rain and snow with minimal sagging, and the material remains durable in cold weather.
Each cover is built locally at Mountain View Canvas, so quality control happens before the product is delivered. If your boat has custom modifications, additional seating, or non-standard equipment, those details can be incorporated into the design. This service does not include boat maintenance, winterization, or mechanical work, only the fabrication and fitting of protective covers.
Boat Owners Often Ask About Fit and Care
Choosing the right cover means understanding how your boat is stored, how often you use it, and what weather conditions it will face when covered.
What measurements do I need to order a boat cover?
Bring your boat to our facility and our team will take the necessary measurements of the hull, windshield, and any protruding equipment to ensure a snug, accurate fit. We do not travel for on-site measurements.
How do I keep a boat cover from collecting water?
A properly fitted cover will shed water if it is tensioned correctly and minimizes low spots where water can pool. Mountain View Canvas designs covers with appropriate slopes and support systems to minimize pooling during storage.
Why would I need a custom boat cover instead of a universal one?
Universal covers rarely fit properly, which allows gaps for moisture and debris and creates loose areas that flap in the wind and tear. A custom cover fits your boat exactly and provides better protection with fewer adjustments and longer lifespan.
When should I put a cover on my boat?
You should cover your boat whenever it is stored for more than a few days, especially during winter and summer or when parked outdoors. Covering it whenever it is not in use prevents UV damage and reduces the need for frequent cleaning.
Boat owners around Fairfield and all of Montana and beyond trust Mountain View Canvas to build covers that fit their vessels and hold up through Montana weather and lake conditions.
